Middle English
*See Also : because of
A traditional rule holds that the construction the reason is because is redundant, and should be avoided in favor of the reason is that. The usage is well established, however, and can be justified by analogy to constructions such as His purpose in calling her was so that she would be forewarned of the change in schedule or The last time I saw her was when she was leaving for college. All three constructions are somewhat less than graceful, however. · When because follows a negated verb phrase, it should be preceded by a comma when the because clause explains why the event did not occur. He didn't marry her, because she was frivolous means roughly, “Her frivolity was his reason for not marrying her.” When no comma is used, the because clause is understood as part of what is being negated. He didn't marry her because she was frivolous means roughly, “His reason for marrying her was independent of her frivolity.”
傳統的原則認為結構 the reason is because太累贅,應避免,而贊同使用 the reason is that .

plenty of可數不可數均可修飾,使用時必須加冠詞或用復數,a plenty of或plenties of
a great deal of修飾不可數
a large quantity of
在 …a large quantity of…
a large sum of
a large/ great/ good number of,通常是修飾可數名詞.
a large number of 修飾可數名詞復數,
a large amount of 修飾不可數名詞,
a great deal of 修飾不可數名詞,
a large sum of 修飾不可數名詞,
還有,英語多用 a great deal of ,而不是a large deal of .
a large deal of、a plenty of和a good supply of 在多數情況下修飾不可數名詞,如:a plenty of water,a geat deal of time,不過它們也可以修飾可數名詞,如a plenty of men.
a quantity of在多數情況下修飾可數名詞,如a quantity of boxes,不過也可修飾不可數名詞,如a quantity of milk.
many,many a(n),a good / great many,a (great / large) number of,scores of,dozens of等.例如:
Scores of people went there in the first few days after its opening.
I have been there dozens of times.
There’re a number of students reading English in the classroom.
Many a student has(=many students have)visited the Great Wall.(謂語動詞用單數)
In winter,a good many animals sleep under the snow.
A great many(of the) graduates have found jobs.
much,a great deal of,a great / large amount of等.例如:
Is there much water in the bucket?
He always has a great amount of work to do.
a lot of,lots of,plenty of (以上三個詞語后謂語動詞的數依of 后的名詞的單復數而定),a great / large quantity of (其后謂語用單數),quantities of (其后謂語用復數).例如:
There is still lots of snow in the garden.
There is plenty of rain here.
A great quantity of flowers was placed in the hall.
There are large quantities of food in the cupboard.
Are there many people in the street?
There isn’t much time left.
其它的詞語都用于肯定句,日常會話中常用lots of,a lot of 或plenty of; 正式文體中常用 a great many,a (large) number of,a great deal of,scores of 或 dozens of 等.但若肯定句中有too,so,as,very或how 等詞修飾時,則必須使用 many,much.例如:
The number of the people who lost their homes reached as many as 250,000.
There is too much work to do.
提示:satisfied adj.(形容詞)[通常句子中人做主語] Filled with satisfaction; content: 滿意的;滿足的: a very satisfied customer. Paid or discharged in full, as a debt or an obligation.
I am trying to satisfy all of my students. 2. satisfy a request/desire/need I went to see the mov...
